Cynthia Nuñez was crowned Miss Mundo Dominicana 2015 at the end of the glittering ceremony held yesterday, October 7, 2015. She is 23 years of age who is a model and works as a PR personnel. She vied against 13 other stunning contestants to win the coveted crown and be crowned by the outgoing queen Dhío Moreno Santos who finished Top 25 in Miss World 2014. The newly crowned queen, Cynthia will represent Dominican Republic in Miss World 2015 pageant where Rolene Strauss of South Africa will crown her successor. won the Miss Mundo Dominicana crown in a pageant held in October 7.

Dominican Republic is one of the successful countries at Miss World pageant as it can boast of 1 win and 6 other placements. Its first and only win was in 1982 courtesy of Mariasela Álvarez. In 2004, Claudia Julissa Cruz who succeeded María Vargas (Top 20 Miss World 2003) had a very close shot to the crown when she finished as 1st runner up to María Julia Mantilla of Peru. Also in 2007, Ada Aimée made Top 16 and bagged a special award of Beach Beauty in Miss World 2007. Consecutively 2012-2014, Dominican Rep. has been placed in Top 30.
